Checking out a new church can be a strange thing sometimes. We realize that you could visit any number of churches in Bel Air or the surrounding areas.
At Way of Life we recognize that deciding to come to our service is exactly that, a decision that you make. Since it’s your personal decision we feel it’s our responsibility to make you feel welcomed but not overwhelmed, included but not spotlighted, and aware of what you can expect when you arrive and participate in the services.
Here are a few things that you'll find when you visit:
- Contemporary music.
- A kind guest services staff that offers to valet park your vehicle, no charge obviously.
- Genuinely nice people.
- Casual dress.
- A “sermon” or talk that explains the message of Jesus in a way you can understand.
- A specific challenge to practically apply on Monday (and every other day) what’s talked about on Sunday.
- Stuff for your children to do – “Slam Planet” runs concurrent with the adult session, each Sunday, and is available for all children ages nursery-12.
And here are a few things that you won’t find when you come to Way of Life:
- Perfect people – nobody that comes to (or leads) Way of Life is perfect. That doesn’t mean that we’re not trying and progressing toward becoming more like Jesus – it just means that if you ever felt that your life could be better than what it is, you’ll be among friends.
- An expectation for guests to give money – we do not ask our guests (i.e. those checking out our church) to give money in the offering. Those people who call Way of Life their church home, from a willing heart (it’s another one of those decisions), will likely give to financially support the church, but as our guest, we will not ask you to give money.
- Boring church services – Way of Life is anything but boring. During the music, you’re invited to sing along, clap your hands, and enjoy the chance to “actively” think about what’s being communicated in the songs. The talk you hear each week will engage your mind and heart and will present the claims of the Bible in a relevant way.
- Compartmentalized Christianity – At Way of Life you won’t experience something that is designed to simply fill up an hour of your time each weekend. We believe WOL is not supposed to be about just coming to church, but being the church. It’s why our mission is to make committed followers of Jesus Christ ... we're all about helping people consciously decide to allow their life to radically follow Jesus and then spread the love and grace of God to those around them in practical ways. Such a decision can’t be compartmentalized.
